  • The Association for the History of Language (AHL) (formerly known as the Melbourne Association for the History of Language) has been established to promote and support interest and research into the history, origin and diversification of language.

    Between 1992 and 2000, the Association published a biannual peer-reviewed journal, History of Language, ISSN 1441-5542 (formerly Dhumbadji!, ISSN 1328-9438) *.

    Dhumbadji! was edited by Paul Sidwell from 1992 to 1996, and History of Language/Dhumbadji! was edited by Nick Nicholas for 1997-2000. The Table of Contents for the various issues of History of Language/Dhumbadji! are available for browsing.

    AHL has also inaugurated a series of Monographs, entitled AHL Studies in the Science & History of Language. The first volume in the series appeared in May 1998. Book proposals for inclusion in the series will be entertained; please contact the general editor, Nick Nicholas, for details.
